How Sensors Fail
Every opener made since 1993 has photo eye sensors about six inches off the floor. If anything blocks the beam, the door will not close. When they fault, the opener light blinks at you.

Sometimes we arrive and find sensors taped together to force the door to close. Please do not do this. The sensors exist because garage doors used to badly hurt children before the rule changed in 1993.

My door will not close and the opener light flashes. Why?
That flash means a sensor fault. Check for something blocking the beam and wipe the lenses. If it keeps happening, we align or repair the sensors quickly.
Why does my door refuse to close only in the morning?
That is classic sun glare. Low sun floods one sensor at the same time each day. Shields or repositioning fix it for good.
Can I just remove the safety sensors?
No. They are a required safety system and the door is dangerous without them. Most openers will not close normally without them anyway. Repair is quick and cheap.
